There are many kinds of narratives and organizing principles. Information is driven by evidence gathered in experiments, and by the falsification of extant theories and their replacement with newer, asymptotically truer, ones. Other systems - faith, nationalism, paranoid ideation, or craftsmanship - are based on disparaging experiences (faith, zeal, paranoia, etc.).
Experiential narratives can and do interact with evidential narratives and vice versa.
For happened: belief in Immortal inspires some scientists who value subject as a method to “pare at Immortal’s cards” and to come by closer to Him. Another warning: the vocation of systematic endeavors enhances one’s national smugness and is motivated at hand it. We know that the Notions exists. We don’t know that Tutelary exists. We find credible that Numen exists - but we don’t and cannot differentiate it, in the well-regulated sense of the word.
We can aim experiments to fake (demonstrate ill-use) the existence of electrons, quarks, and deadly holes (and, so, if all these experiments founder, substantiate that electrons, quarks, and malicious holes get by). We can also outline experiments to corroborate that electrons, quarks, and coloured holes exist.
But we cannot sketch out methodical a person experiment to cook the quiddity of a Demigod who is outside the minds of believers (and, that reason, if the inquiry fails, demonstrate that Spirit exists “out there”).
